What Is IASTM?
An innovative form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation.
The tools placed on the skin in the area to be treated and each instrument employs a beveled treatment edge. The treatment edge facilitates the breakdown of scar tissue and stimulates blood flow to the injured area, accelerating the natural healing process.
Our physical therapists at Athletix Rehab are highly experienced in the use of this method of treatment to break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions, relieve pain and inflammation, and release muscle tension.
